Winner counts for the 4th to 9th prizes are the number of four-digit endings drawn. Every ticket in every series ending in those digits wins, so each ending represents many winning tickets across Kerala.
Understanding the three kinds of prize
Full-number prizes. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes go to one exact ticket each: the two-letter series and all six digits must match. Because about a dozen series are printed, the six-digit number alone exists in every series, which is why the series matters. The result prints the town where each of these tickets was sold, for example "KJ 734269 (PATTAMBI)".
Consolation prizes. Once the first prize is drawn, the same six-digit number in every other series wins a consolation prize, usually ₹5,000. With twelve series there are eleven consolation winners. Many people miss this prize because they compare only the full number; if your digits match the first prize but the letters differ, you have won.
Ending prizes. From the 4th prize down, the department draws four-digit endings. Every ticket in every series whose number ends in a drawn ending wins that tier. This is where most of a draw's winners come from: a single ending can be held by hundreds of tickets, and a typical weekly draw lists around 400 endings across six tiers. If a ticket qualifies for more than one prize, the highest is paid.
What a winner actually receives
- Tax: prizes above ₹10,000 attract 30% income tax deducted at source under section 194B, plus surcharge and cess where applicable. A ₹1 crore first prize therefore pays roughly ₹63 to ₹70 lakh after tax and commission.
- Agent commission: 10% of prizes above ₹5,000 is paid to the agent who sold the ticket, deducted from the prize.
- Small prizes: up to ₹5,000 are paid in full, in cash, by any lottery shop.
- Deadline: every prize must be claimed within 90 days of the draw. See how to claim.
Bumper lotteries
Bumper draws have a larger structure: a first prize of ₹10 crore to ₹25 crore, several second and third prizes, one per series, consolation prizes that can reach ₹1 lakh each, and ending prizes that may use four, five or six digits with a lowest tier of ₹300 to ₹500. Ticket prices are ₹250 to ₹500. See the bumper lottery page for current amounts and every past result.

How the structure has changed
Before the 2025 restructuring, weekly tickets cost ₹40 to ₹50 and first prizes ranged from ₹70 lakh (Akshaya, Nirmal, Pournami) through ₹75 lakh (Win-Win, Sthree Sakthi) and ₹80 lakh (Karunya, Karunya Plus) to ₹1 crore (Fifty-Fifty). The new lineup standardised every weekly ticket at ₹50 with a ₹1 crore first prize. Results from both eras are archived, and each result page shows the amounts that applied on that day. Terms used here are explained in the glossary.
