Step-by-step
- Sign the ticket. Write your name, address and signature on the back. Keep it flat and undamaged.
- Verify the result. Compare against the official result published by the Kerala State Lotteries department, not only this site.
- Small prizes. Up to ₹5,000, take the ticket to any authorised agent and collect the money.
- Prepare documents for larger prizes: the winning ticket, a filled claim form, two passport-size photographs, a self-attested copy of your PAN card and Aadhaar or other ID, and a cancelled cheque or bank passbook copy.
- Submit within 90 days of the draw date to a bank or the Directorate of State Lotteries. Late claims are rejected.
- Receive payment. After verification the prize is paid by account transfer with tax deducted at source.
Tax on Kerala lottery winnings
- Prizes above ₹10,000 attract 30% income tax deducted at source under Section 194B, plus surcharge and cess where applicable.
- Agent commission of 10% is deducted from prizes above ₹5,000 when claimed through an agent.
- The winner receives the net amount. Lottery income must still be declared in your income tax return.
Common mistakes
- Missing the 90-day deadline.
- Damaged, torn or altered tickets. These are not accepted.
- Handing the ticket to an unknown person who offers to claim on your behalf.
- Confusing the last four digits of a lower prize with the full number of a top prize. Use the ticket checker.
